I\u2019ve spent my whole life in Paris. I\u2019ve walked through modest neighborhoods, wandered through the elegant districts and yet, among the (very precise) 9% of men from my generation living in Paris\u2026 I haven\u2019t dated a single one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At ten, I thought I\u2019d be married by eighteen. I clearly hadn\u2019t accounted for the fact that I\u2019d grow up to be so hesitant with every man who approaches me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might think I\u2019m aromantic, but that\u2019s really not the case. At least\u2026 I don\u2019t think it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know I\u2019m a hopeless romantic. I know what I like and honestly, I don\u2019t think my high standards are the problem. So then, what is the problem<\/strong> ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paris is supposed to be the city of love. So why does it feel like it has everything except<\/em> romantic men ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So many questions, right ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe the problem is<\/em> Paris. Or maybe the real issue lies with my generation. After all, Gen Z isn\u2019t exactly famous for its sweeping, cinematic love stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve become cautious. We move between spontaneity and self-protection, between desire and defense, between fantasy and emotional pragmatism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re scared to open up. Afraid of being vulnerable, ghosted, cheated on, manipulated or just flat-out disappointed. The unknown isn\u2019t exciting anymore; it\u2019s potentially dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Love is complicated. One person has the power to make us deeply happy\u2026 but that same person could also break us. Giving your heart is always a risk. And yet\u2026 we still do it. That must mean it\u2019s worth it. Right ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe the real issue isn\u2019t Paris. And maybe it isn\u2019t this lukewarm era of romance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it\u2019s simply how we see things now and love is no exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our caution protects us, sure. Our standards remind us that we don\u2019t need to lower the bar just to belong in a relationship and maybe, by filtering better, we\u2019ll love better.<\/strong> But still, that shouldn\u2019t stop us from loving fully<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I was meant to find something real in Paris, it clearly isn\u2019t happening anytime soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know I\u2019m picky but there has to be someone out there for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe love is waiting in a hidden corner of Paris I haven\u2019t stumbled into yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or maybe not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe my soulmate lives in another country. After all, who ever said the love of your life has to be born three metro stops away ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
